COSTA MESA, CA. - #4 ranked Vanguard University had five players score in double digits on the way to a convincing 86-65 win over Fresno Pacific Thursday evening in Costa Mesa.
Sophomore
Keri Stephanoff gave the Sunbirds their only lead of the game after scoring the first basket of the contest, but the Lions slowly pulled away as the game progressed to finish with the 21 point victory.
Senior guard
Jessica Mazza scored a game high 20 points and snatched 7 rebounds to lead FPU. Junior forward
Jessica Torrecillas also contributed by netting 15 and
Keri Stephanoff chipped in with 11.
Fresno Pacific will host Hope International this Saturday (1/9/10) afternoon and look to rebound from a couple of tough losses. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:30pm.
