Yulia Blinovskaya had an outstanding senior season this year for the Sunbirds. Blinovskaya led the Sunbirds to a much improved record of 13-22, and her efforts did not go unnoticed. Last week the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches announced their All American list, and Blinovskaya was ranked among the best water polo players from all divisions.
The NAIA does not sponsor its own national championship because of too few programs, and therefore the players are lumped in with the NCAA players for All American recognition.
Blinovskaya received an Honorable Mention recognition within the NCAA DI rankings, and was also the only NAIA player to earn recognition from the ACWPC.
Blinovskaya finished the season averaging 2.7 goals per game, scoring 95 goals in the Sunbirds’ 35 games.
The ACWPC determines All Americans based on division: NCAA DI, NCAA DII and NCAA DIII. These teams are determined by votes from member coaches, across all conferences, and illustrate the growth of the sport of water polo throughout the country.
