Head coach Meredith Pulliam and this year's Sunbird squad turned a tough 2007-2008 season into successful and groundbreaking 2008-2009 campaign.
This year's Fresno Pacific team improved remarkably from a 2-18 GSAC record (10-20 overall) in 2007-2008 to a 9-11 GSAC finish (13-15 overall) this season that also included a playoff appearance.
Highlights included victiories over three nationally ranked opponents. The Sunbirds defeated #23 The Master's College, #18 Azusa Pacific, and #14 Westmont this year and were fiercly competitive throughout the season.
A handful of Sunbirds also received post-season recognitions.
Jessica Torrecillas was named to the All GSAC team. The sophomore forward led the Sunbirds in offense and scored 369 points, with an average of 13.2 per game.
On the academic front, senior forward Mackenzie Butler and junior guard Jessica Mazza received Daktronic Scholar Athlete honors for their work not only on the field, but in the classroom
