Sunbirds Win Conference Title

FRESNO, CA – Having already clinched at least a share of the GSAC title with Tuesday’s win over No. 21 Westmont, No. 4 Fresno Pacific expected Cal Baptist to complete their season with a win over Concordia in Riverside on Thursday.
However, the 8th-ranked Eagles upended 2nd-ranked Cal Baptist 5-4 to give Fresno Pacific the outright conference championship, and their second consecutive GSAC title.
The Sunbirds went undefeated in conference play last season to win their first-ever GSAC championship.
Heading into the final week of the regular season, Fresno Pacific (21-2, 15-1 GSAC) and Cal Baptist (17-2, 14-2 GSAC) held identical 14-1 records in conference play.
Fresno Pacific will represent the GSAC as the No. 1 team in the conference when the NAIA National Championships begin May 12th in Mobile, Alabama.
National seedings and the official tournament draw will be announced by the NAIA on Tuesday, May 5th.
