#4 Sunbirds Down Westmont 8-1

Senior Marco Foelz went 2-0 on the day as the Sunbirds defeated Westmont 8-1.

FRESNO, CA – Marco Foelz, the lone senior for the No. 2 Sunbirds, went 2-0 on Tuesday afternoon to pace Fresno Pacific’s 9-0 win over No. 21 Westmont at the Haak Tennis Center.

 

Fresno Pacific concludes the regular season at 21-2 (15-1 GSAC).  The Sunbirds hold a half match lead over Cal Baptist for top spot in the GSAC standings.  The Lancers close out the regular season at home against No. 5 Concordia.

 

Foelz is the last remaining member from the Sunbirds’ inaugural 2005 tennis season.  He made the most of his last two matches in a Sunbirds uniform, as he dropped just three games for the day.

 

Foelz began senior day with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Ryley Schultz at No. 3 singles, then teamed with Nicolas Ernst for an 8-2 win over Aaron Cook and Bryan Cox at No. 1 doubles.

 

Fresno Pacific will next compete at the NAIA National Championships in Mobile, AL from May 11-16th.  The draw will be released on Tuesday, May 5th.

 

The Sunbirds were finalists in last year’s championship.
