REEDLEY, CA. -- The Fresno Pacific men's basketball team had to change venues to host Friday's (Nov. 6) home game because of a scheduling conflict at FPU's Special Event Center.
But the venue didn't seem to matter as the No. 3-ranked Sunbirds downed the visiting Raiders of Southern Oregon University 75-59 in a non-conference game at Reedley College.
The Sunbirds got off to a great start, shooting 50% (14-28) from the field and 57.1% (4-7) on 3-pointers to take a 38-27 halftime lead.
FPU continued to shoot well from the field in the second half (48%), and took full advantage of free-throw opportunities by shooting 85.7% (12-14) down the stretch.
Senior forward
Todd Brown and senior point guard
Jesse Childs led the Sunbird's offense with 17 points each.
"Outside of a few breakdowns, we played pretty well defensively tonight," said FPU assistant coach
Chris Wright.
"Considering we've had a rough preseason, we'll be thrilled when we can suit up a full squad," Wright added.
With the win, FPU improves to 2-0 and will host Bethany College at 7 p.m. Wednesday (Nov. 11) at the Special Event Center.
