MOBILE, ALA. - The Fresno Pacific duo of
Katia Sabate and
Vanessa Heroux won the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Small Colleges "Super Bowl" women's doubles title Sunday in Mobile, Ala.
Sabate/Heroux defeated Jillian O'Neill/Olivia Howlett of Hillsborough Community College (Fla.), 6-3, 6-0.
The victory earned the Sunbirds pair a berth in the ITA National Indoors against the best players from Division I of the NCAA. The Indoors is Nov. 5-8 at Yale University in New Haven, Conn.
The win ended an undefeated fall season for Sabate/Heroux, who won the ITA Regional earlier this month and then on Friday won the NAIA women's doubles title. Sabate also won the NAIA women's singles title.
The ITA Small College "Super Bowl" is an annual fall tournament pitting champions of the NAIA, NCAA Divisons II and III and junior colleges.
